In 1949 Charlie Parker recorded the album “Charlie Parker with strings”, which placed him among the giants of jazz. Many still maintain that this was his most prominent period. What was most remarkable about the project was the line-up used in the recording: combining classical with jazz musicians and crossing the border between orchestra music and bebop outfits, Parker succeeded at amalgamating completely different genres. Because this divide between jazz and classical music still exists to this day, the Spring Orchestra was founded.

Spring symbolises revival, rebirth, a fresh breeze. And using Charlie Parker’s music as their starting point, the Spring Orchestra are determined to inititate a kind of revival. Beside Parker’s jazz standards, the Spring Orchestra’s repertoire also includes original compositions by Črt Remic.
